Best Before Date Information
Some of our products has a Best Before date, not an ‘Expiry Date’ or ‘Use By’ date.
Goods that are past their Best Before date are still safe to consume. A Best Before date is merely an indication of when the goods should be consumed by, if you want to eat or drink it, at its best quality. Find out more.
Many products continue to maintain a high quality well beyond their Best Before date. New Zealanders throw away 157,389 tonnes of food a year. That is equivalent to 271 jumbo jets of food that has to go somewhere to rot, instead of being eaten. All of this food is worth about $1.17 billion each year. A 'Use By’ or 'Expiry' date means the goods are not suitable for sale or consumption after the date has passed.
